This beautiful beachfront villa features 4 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a plunge pool overlooking the tropical garden and lagoon. Located on a sandy beach, in a typical fisherman's village. This spacious villa is superbly decorated and features bright open spaces perfect for a large family or group of friends. If you are looking to experience the authentic Mauritian lifestyle, whilst enjoying the comfort and flexibility of a fully equipped private home, this villa is ideal for you.
The space
This delightful villa boasts a spacious covered terrace overlooking a wide tropical garden from where you can enjoy the spectacular views over the lagoon. It also offers you the perfect place to spend a quiet evening while taking in the breathtaking sunsets, or to enjoy a delicious meal. With a lovely plunge pool (secured for children) & barbecue to cook up a feast under the stars, this bungalow has everything that you need for a perfect beach holiday.
In the living space you will find a comfortably sized TV lounge, an open breakfast/dining area and a fully equipped kitchen with a built-in oven, microwave, dishwasher and Nespresso coffee machine. You will also have access to cable TV and high-speed internet.
For sleeping, you will have 4 air-conditioned bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. There is also a guest toilet.
Directly in front of the villa you have the lovely lagoon with a small natural “pool” protected by rocks, where parents can happily enjoy the sea with their small children, as the water level is shallow. There is also the larger, deeper lagoon to the right of the villa.
closer to the boats that are moored.
Our wonderful housekeeper Vishwanee services the villa daily (except for Sundays and public holidays) from 9ish to 2 p.m., will be happy to help you whenever and to cater to your needs. She would also be delighted to cook for you and to make you discover our tasty local dishes (ingredients will need to be provided by you). The garden and pool are also serviced weekly.
The villa has been fully decorated by the owners and their daughter Pauline over the years. This used to be their family home where she grew up. You may bump into her during your stay as she takes care of the villa. Grand Gaube is where most of my mum's family live. They are all very friendly and welcoming and would be more than happy to give you any recommendations or assistance if needed.
I also welcome guests to the "Quaint Beach Bungalow in a fishing village", and "Quaint Beach Villa in a fishing village" which is my aunt's 1-bedroom bungalow and my mum's 3 bedroom villa with pool right next door.
Guest access
Guest access the whole villa during their stay. Parking is available in the garden at the entrance. It has a private long garden with direct access to the beach and the sea.
Grand-Gaube is an authentic fishing village in the North of Mauritius. It is the perfect place for those wishing to be away from the touristy, but crowded village of Grand-Baie and being only 15-20 minutes by car from it.
It has a vast lagoon ideal for kitesurfing aficionados and water-sports enthusiasts. I highly recommend walks along the beautiful stretch of beach in the morning or at sunset, as this is when the light is best to appreciate the scenery (and to capture those amazing photographs). There is a kite-surfing school (for beginners to more advanced) less than a minute walk away from the bungalow.
Within walking distance, you will find local supermarkets, a pharmacy, a bus-stop and restaurants, including those of two hotels nearby. Renting a car is recommended, especially so that you may visit the island. The capital, Port-Louis, is a 45 minute drive from the bungalow (avoiding peak hours ).
In Calodyne, 05 - 10 mins by car, you will find a supermarket (Intermart), a butcher, a French bakery, a pastry shop as well as a fruits & vegetables market.
