Quaint beach apartment in a fishing village

Beachfront apartment located on a peaceful sandy beach, in a typical fisherman's village, with amazing sea views. This charming apartment is ideal for a couple or a family with two children, wishing to experience the authentic Mauritian lifestyle, whilst enjoying the flexibility of a fully equipped private home.

The space
This one-bedroom apartment offers a delightful balcony overlooking the lagoon where you can enjoy the spectacular views of the sunsets and the northern islands (Gunner’s Quoin, Flat Island, Round island). It has more than 180 degrees view over the sea.

This apartment has everything that you need for a perfect beach holiday. The kitchen is fully equipped with an oven, microwave and Nespresso coffee machine. There is a TV (cable) in the living room, as well as high speed internet. There is one air conditioned bedroom, a separate bathroom and the dining table is set under the balcony. The sofas in the living room can be converted into two beds for children.

The lagoon directly in front of the apartment is perfect for swimming. On the right side of the beach, there is a small natural “pool” protected by rocks, where parents can enjoy swimming with their small children, as the water level is not too deep.

The apartment is serviced a daily during the week (except Sundays and public holidays).

The apartment has been recently renovated and furnished. My uncle Rodney and his wife Any lives on the ground floor which is a separate unit. As a child, Rodney used to spend her school holidays in Grand-Gaube. His whole family later decided to settle there and since then he lives in the unit below. He is a deep sea fishing aficionado. Most of his sisters and brothers live in the next door houses (on the cove), so you may bump into them during your stay. They are all very friendly and welcoming and are always willing to have a chat and give recommendations / assistance if needed.

Parking for a small car. Also free parking space available a few metres away on the public beach parking. It has a garden with direct access to the beach and the sea.

Grand-Gaube is an authentic fishing village in the North of Mauritius. It is the perfect place for those wishing to be away from the touristy, but crowded village of Grand-Baie and being only 15-20 minutes by car from it.

It has a vast lagoon ideal for kitesurfing aficionados and water-sports enthusiasts. I highly recommend walks along the beautiful stretch of beach in the morning or at sunset, as this is when the light is best to appreciate the scenery (and to capture those amazing photographs). There is a kite-surfing school (for beginners to more advanced) less than a minute walk away from the bungalow.

Within walking distance, you will find local supermarkets, a pharmacy, a bus-stop and restaurants, including those of two hotels nearby. Renting a car is recommended, especially so that you may visit the island. The capital, Port-Louis, is a 45 minute drive from the bungalow (avoiding peak hours ).

In Calodyne, 05 - 10 mins by car, you will find a supermarket (Intermart), a butcher, a pastry shop as well as a fruits & vegetables market.

Other things to note
